Plot:
A civil war takes the lives of Agu's family, who is then drafted as a child soldier.
Verdict:
Every part of this movie is exceptional, the story, direction, visuals, writing, sound, and performances. Quality abounds, and while this is a very good movie. The subject matter is difficult, and because of that it's not something I'd want to watch again because it's almost too good.
Watch it.

It's an amazing film. Every single piece of this film is so well done. From the great production values to Fukunaga's direction, the images on the screen and the emotions evoked are amazing.
The scene when Agu is involved in the first attack and he's pushed to complete his training is an excruciating scene. These are kids performing acts of war.
All of the performances are exceptional. Abraham Attah steals the show, and that's against Idris Elba. The movie captures an unimaginable experience up to and through the scene where Agu and the child soldiers surrender. It's a difficult subject because it's true. These things are happening.
