- "Witchers" are hunters who develop supernatural abilities at a young age to battle deadly monsters.
- Adapted from Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski's fantasy series of short stories and novels about the witcher Geralt of Rivia known as the Witcher Saga.
- The novels have been translated to numerous languages and have spawned a successful action-role playing video game franchise.
- Writer Lauren S. Hissrich announced on Twitter she finished the draft for the pilot on February 24, 2018.
- Casting began on June 23, 2018. To protect from spoilers during casting, the production team wrote all-new scenes for the characters that won't be part of the TV series itself.
- It took ten weeks for the writers room to begin finalizing the first season.
- Geralt, Yennefer, and Jaskier will be among the roles being cast. Geralt's bard companion will be called "Jaskier" rather than the more frequent English translation of "Dandelion," the name from the video games and some of the English translations of the books.
- In an August 6, 2018 interview, actor Henry Cavill express his interest in playing Geralt.
- An unconfirmed Twitter post on August 14, 2018 indicated the series will film in Budapest, Hungary.
- Reported on November 4, 2019 that show runner Lauren Hissrich has mapped out seven seasons of stories before season one releases.
