Verdict
I thought more would happen in this movie. We see an escalation of violence throughout, but I wondered why the gang leader is like this. The movie doesn't answer that, and while he does face consequences eventually I wondered what this movie's stance on the violence would be. Crowe does a great job, but the character development and motivation is lacking.
Skip it.

Review
This movie released in 1992. You think we'd be farther away from racism.

Hando (Russell Crowe) leads a group of racists that live in Melbourne and live in a warehouse. They attack a group of residents and later face retaliation. I just thought there would be more to this movie. I was surprised at how little happened. I wondered if the point the movie was making is that this idealogy is mindless and a lot of nothing. This provides nothing as to why this group is like this and filled with such hate.

Russell Crowe plays Hando

Hando meets and starts dating Gabrielle (Jacqueline McKenzie). She doesn't believe the same thigns, but she's looking for a place to stay and Hando provides that so she follows along.

The easy comparison is American History X. In that you have a former racist who's seen the fallacies in his belief and is trying to prevent his brother from going down the same path. He realized his rationale was built on lies.

In this, it's just one fight after another. The violence continues to escalate, culminating at the end of the movie. Hando proposes increasingly violent machinations, which not everyone in his gang condones. I just wanted this movie to dig deeper into what drives Hando. It's clear he's a psychopath. He's rewarded justly for his actions, but the movie is a bit hollow.
