Plot
Set in a post-Jax Teller world, former golden boy EZ Reyes is now fresh out of prison and a prospect in the Mayan MC charter on the California-Mexico border, carving out his new outlaw identity.

In the final season EZ navigates being club president and various other motorcycle gangs while trying to setup businesses that will sustain the club for the future.

Verdict
This show has always felt like a copy of Sons of Anarchy. It's a similar story and setting with the same creator that shares characters. This world doesn't feel new as we've seen it. This show has always been okay. Somehow I've made it to the final season, and because of that I feel compelled to watch it, but judging this season on its own I don't really care. There's a lot of bodies as plot lines get concluded. In this world that usually the way it goes. The only reason to watch this is for closure. If you've made it through four seasons, why not one more. Then again, you're not going to get much more from this season compared to the others.
It depends.

Review
I enjoyed the previous seasons enough that I want to see how this show finishes. It didn't feel as fresh as Sons of Anarchy, and that's because it 's a similar idea. The previous seasons kept taking big swings. EZ is always into some kind of drama.

This show has always been EZ's (JD Pardo) story. That often pulls his brother Angel (Clayton Cardenas) and father Felipe (Edward James Olmos) into the mix. EZ is president now and they've got a turf war against the Sons of Anarchy. This seasons introduces two other motorcycle gangs, the Broken Saints and Iron War as well as the cartel we saw last season.

JD Pardo plays EZ Reyes

This season shift's EZ's drama to the trouble of leading the club while facing foes on all sides. It's a lot to juggle, and even the best shows have trouble juggling so many characters and plot lines. This does explore EZ's secret that setup this whole show initially. As club president he's making decisions he states are for the club, but it's really to hide his secrets. The tension is whether he can cover his bases before he's found out.

This has always felt like Sons of Anarchy's little brother as it treads such similar ground. We get guns, violence, and a familial relationship. This show lacks the connection with the cops which always made that world feel bigger. Sons also had more characters with agency. While it felt fresh upon premiere, that show did have some rough seasons.

At the beginning of this show you empathized with EZ. He had all the potential that was dashed in an impulsive moment. In season one he was a puppet. In this season it's like the show doesn't quite know what to do with him. He's still trying to keep that secret, but the romantic interest introduced last season isn't doing much. The secret he's desperately trying to keep has ramifications for his family.

This season has a lot of bodies, as that's a logical way to conclude some story lines in this world. This season on its own, I'd recommend skipping it, but if you've watched four seasons of this show, you're going to find it difficult not to watch the final chapter. Then again, one could argue you've already seen four seasons of this and this season isn't offering anything new.
