Plot
A look into the nightly lives of four vampires who have lived together on Staten Island for over a century.

Verdict
This show excels at being utterly ridiculous while the characters are completely earnest about their silly plights. It's my favorite kind of humor, it isn't laugh out loud funny, but it's so clever. It's the type of show you should watch episodes twice to see what you missed. This season does a great job with a serialized story as secondary plots are inserted into every episode. I eagerly awaited each episode, and this show never once disappointed.
Watch It.

Review
This has been one of my favorite comedies since it started airing. I love the understated comedy. When I saw a spin-off of the movie What We Do in the Shadows, I had to give it a shot. The movie is great, and this is similar, but it also is completely unique. In the fifth season, this show hasn't lost a single step.

Guillermo (Harvey Guillén) had quite the arc in season four, and this gives him something similar with an arc that impacts every episode, but it's the small moments that make me like this show. In episode two Nandor (Kayvan Novak) and Laszlo (Matt Berry) are drinking with regular guys in a bar. That quickly devolves. It's ridiculous, and that's what makes it so good. I'm always excited to see what this show develops next. It does a great job developing new ideas for Colin Robinson (Mark Proksch) this season.

Colin Robinson is an energy vampire, gaining energy when he bores people. The other vampires have so much disdain for him, because he is usually the most boring person in the room. One episode plays with that as he can't help but attract attention.

Episodes are frequently silly yet delightful. This show has a great handle on each character. Laszlo would be my favorite character as he's so full of bravado. Colin Robinson is great too. It's rare where a character's job is to deflate the energy in the room. This show utilizes that well. Nandor and Nadja are great as well while Guillermo is the serious one that has to keep things together.

Natasia Demetriou, Matt Berry play Nadja, Laszlo

Laszlo and Guillermo connect during this season. Laszlo develops sun screen in episode three with Guillermo's help en route to a pride parade. In episode seven, Laszlo ends up experimenting on Guillermo, and the results appear throughout the rest of the season.

This is a great show. I'd rank it as one of the  best television comedies, and the fact that it's still so strong after five seasons is a credit to the show and actors.
