Plot
Two rival fixers cross paths when they're both called in to help cover up a prominent New York official's misstep. During thet night they'll have to set aside their petty grievances and egos to finish the job.
Verdict
I was hoping Clooney and Pitt would make this at least watchable, but this turned out to be so much more. It's a lot of fun. Their chemistry is great, combined with a thrill ride of an adventure as they're sucked deeper into this job that keeps getting more difficult. While forced to work together, they don't like it, bristling whenever it's assumed they are a team. They constantly needle each other, though by the end of their plight they do respect each other.
Watch It.
Review
This features an ominous start with Margaret (Amy Ryan) searching for a phone number as she stands over a dead body. She calls in a fixer to clean up this problem. What she doesn't realize is that the hotel owner is spying on everyone and called her own fixer. This dead body is bad for everyone.

George Clooney, Amy Ryan play fixer, Margaret |
By their nature fixers work alone. Neither Fixer 1 (George Clooney) nor Fixer 2 (Brad Pitt) trust the other, and neither of them want to work together. This is putting two lone wolfs together. The comedy is inherent as neither of them are happy with the situation or each other. The cast makes the movie as they're so funny. When they're not snipping at each other, they try to impress the other. Fixer 2 is always quick with a dry, witty putdown.
Working together, they get Margaret out of the hotel with an alibi while also moving the body. Fixer 1 manages to impress Fixer 2 while deftly moving the body. Of course this job becomes anything but easy. Complications lead them to an underground doctor who they are surprised to learn they both use. It's not surprising, she's the best.

An easy job keeps getting more complicated. In trying to close the job, they end up on a chase through the city. This movie is so funny. It's understated, comedic despite the dire situation. It's always awkward and the movie knows it. I didn't expect the dead body to have so much character development. These fixers manage to bond over the course of the night and even exhibit some humanity despite the coldness of their job. While the ending is open, I liked it.
