Plot
After an embarrassing incident at work, suburban family man Ron Trosper finds himself investigating a far-reaching conspiracy.
Verdict
I frequently wondered, what is this show? It's such a silly premise that's taken very seriously, but it's also often wacky. This starts with a broken chair and goes places I never would have imagined. Ron finds conspiracies, shady characters, and a pervasive mystery. After the first episode I wondered how this would fill the count, and it manages to do that without feeling like filler. While this season doesn't provide much resolution, that very well could be the joke. The final episode is the strangest. Whatever hope for answers is lost in yet another explanation that's even more bewildering. Even at the end of the season, I enjoyed how far this takes the premise but I'm not sure what to think about the show or if I actually like it. While I look forward to season two, what is this show?
It depends.
Review
Ron (Tim Robinson) develops malls. He's passionate about it, even getting into an argument with wait staff during dinner over what constitutes a mall. After a big presentation at work on his newest development, he sits down and the chair collapses. We've already seen he's not one to let anything go, and after the embarrassing incident he attempts to call the manufacturer, Tecca, to start a recall. When his call isn't returned he contacts them online and then via email. Customer service isn't what it used to be. I wasn't sure how this show would persist for eight episodes after the first one.

Ron blows this completely out of proportion. I feel like he would have had an incident earlier than this with how anxious and high strung he is. He's obsessive, and this show is so ridiculous and silly. Shockingly, he's attacked and told to quit looking into the chair company. Ron just wants revenge for being embarrassed, trying to blame his humiliation on the chair. I didn't expect him to actually uncover something.
Ron investigates his attacker, using the shirt the man left behind. He has to join a retail membership to learn more and is bombarded by texts and emails This can be so serious, but also so over the top. This investigation is plagued by the typical real world annoyances. Though Ron does find the parent company and an employee that may have worked at Tecca, someone begins impersonating him online to sabotage Ron.
I frequently have to remind myself that all of this started over a broken chair. Ron tracks down the CFO of the parent company who turns out to be just an actor. This show keeps getting crazier. Are these clues or coincidences? Whenever I think Ron is going down a rabbit hole, he ends up finding a connection, like a room full of Tecca chairs.

| E6: Tim Robinson plays Ron Trosper |
While Ron earlier thought the chairs were being used to transport drugs, now he thinks the crime is fraud. To keep him quiet, Tecca creates a direct connection to Ron's family. This show is such a wild ride. Whenever I begin to doubt Ron's crazy theories, he makes a legitimate connection. I didn't imagine a broken chair would lead to these shady characters with underground dealings.
This show is frequently bonkers. What is this show? Ron just can't get away. Everyday is something new that leads him back to the conspiracy. Ron encounters a man that states his fall was planned, set into motion when he was in high school. It seems dubious, but with this show who knows. The final episode doesn't provide much resolution, but how do you resolve this story? It's gone far beyond anything I ever expected.
It's rare that I anticipate a second season this much when I'm not even sure I liked the show. It has its moments, but it's so strange. This season can be so serious, yet the premise is silly.
