Review
I've never seen Rogan's stand up and I don't listen to the podcast. I started one podcast episode but at three hours long and based upon what I was hearing, I didn't continue.
I will start watching his stand up specials.
What stands out is the good, consistent comedy. There are no awkward transitions or down times, and Rogan does a great job of jumping into a hot topic and walking it back to find the humor in it.
If you were to bullet point his jokes, some would sound more offensive than the actually are, like why he doesn't want a woman guarding the White House. His high energy carries his observations as he flows through topics without missing a beat. He jokes about weed trips, a crazy world where Trump may be president, and not getting out-tigered in Texas among other bits. The tigers in Texas may be my favorite bit.
He does a couple of voices that could have had more variety and, he's prone to yelling but these aren't detrimental.
He targets his kids and himself, talking about how living with women has made him more feminine. He pivots to Bruce Jenner and Kanye West and provides his version as to what happened to Bruce to close out the show. Its a great closer to the show, that's a bigger joke than his other material.
