Dana Carvey: Straight White Male, 60 - Entertaining impressions from start to finish.

Watch Dana Carvey: Straight White Male, 60 on Netflix
Written by: Dana Carvey
Starring: Dana Carvey
Rating: --/R

Plot
The Emmy award winning comedian and former SNL star takes the stage. I will always remember him for the worst movie I've ever seen, Master of Disguise.

Verdict
This isn't always laugh out loud funny, but it's never less than entertaining. It's not just Carvey's ability for impressions, but the accompanying phrases that are just within the realm of possibility, causing us to think, "Did Bush or Trump really say that?"
The energy is high, and it's easy to see Carvey is having as much or more fun that the audience. Despite the lulls in his career, his comedy is sharp as ever.
Watch it.

Review
I haven't seen many of Netflix's comedy specials (check out what I have and haven't seen here), but this is easily the best one I've seen. My expectations weren't high. While he was part of the eponymous duo from Wayne's World, Carvey didn't become Mike Myers.

It started with a Trump joke, which seemed like an easy swipe, but then he not only made fun of many nominees and presidents, he began impersonating them. That's when this special begins to shine. Carvey rarely uses his own voice, frequently becoming a teenager, actor, president, or pop culture celebrity.

He did a great impression of George W. Bush, speculating that Bush may ask Trump, "Who does your hair, stupid cuts?"

His impressions aren't necessarily spot on, but you know exactly who he's spoofing as he creates a perfect caricature. There's a reason he made it to Saturday Night Live. Carvey's energy is nearly contagious as he bounces around the stage, setting up a Thanksgiving meal conversation between Tony Montana and Al Pacino. He never slows down and doesn't drop a joke.

The sum of the parts is greater than the whole when he combines an impression with a ridiculous one liner. "I'm going to reduce greenhouse gases and make CO2 pay for it."
He closes the set with John Lennon and Paul McCartney discussing Kanye West, Kim Kardashian, and pop culture.
