Plot
Steve Rogers, a rejected military soldier, transforms into Captain America after taking a dose of a "Super-Soldier serum". Being Captain America comes at a price as he attempts to take down a war monger and a terrorist organization.

Verdict
This is a lot of fun. Rooting for Cap is easy as he's the personification of a hero with a dash of extreme patriotism. He doesn't shy away from any fight. While Marvel's strategy is big budget with lots of stars, the studio doesn't short the script. This has a solid story that ties everything together while providing big moments of triumph.
Watch it.

Review
While I would describe myself as just a moderate super hero movie fan, I've really enjoyed rewatching the Marvel movies. Thor and Captain America have been a lot of fun.

Desperate to join the fight during World War II, it doesn't matter what Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) puts on his application; he isn't healthy enough. He's got the intelligence and temerity, just not the size. This makes him perfect for a little experiment that will turn him into a super soldier. It works, but in the process the lead scientist and by extension the formula is lost. Steve tours the country to raise money for the war.

Chris Evans plays Steve Rogers aka Captain America.

Steve's show only lasts so long. Steve is a soldier and when he learns of U.S. hostages he stages a one man mission to get them back. Watching this again, makes me appreciate Cap more in the future movies. He doesn't have the arrogance that we see in Tony Stark and Thor. Steve lives by a code to fight injustice. The movie does a great job characterizing him as hero. He's someone that never gives up. When he saves the hostages, while defying all odds, it's a touching moment when he returns.

The villain, Red Skull (Hugo Weaving), is perfect with appearance alone. While it's all too easy to make Nazis villains, this takes it a step further with the secret organization Hydra using the Nazis as a front for their own agenda. I wish there was more to Red Skull than the desire for power.  He's too shallow for as cool as he looks.

Steve Rogers prior to the super serum.

I like the juxtaposition of futuristic Hydra technology against the early century weapons. It's basically alien guns, but they look much more advanced when the setting is the 1940s. It provides the technology a greater impact.

This provides Steve with a big hero moment at the end where he gets to save the United States. It's a culmination of everything that makes Steve a true super hero.
