Plot
A mercenary takes on the job of tracking down a target on a plane but must protect that target when they're surrounded by people trying to kill both of them.
Verdict
This delivers what it promises, a fight on a plane. This hits just the right tone. It's never very serious, and it seems like Hartnett is having a lot of fun. Finding someone on a plane ends up being fighting everyone else on the plane. Just when you wonder what this will do next to remain exciting, it surprises you. It can be gory and violent, but if you want an action packed movie that doesn't require much thought, this delivers.
It depends.
Review
The very first scene is some kind of wild fight on an airplane. While I don't typically like the how we got here trope, this is a quick preview that doesn't reveal anything about the story and generates a lot of anticipation.
An unnamed government agency tries to track a hacker with the alias of Ghost after an attack. With few options and no agents in the area to track Ghost, agency head Brunt (Katee Sackhoff) calls on former agent Lucas Reyes (Josh Hartnett). While he was unceremoniously dismissed and now happily drinking away his troubles, this call only makes him mad. The promise to clear his name and get his secret service job back is enough incentive to accept.

The agency knows Ghost got on a plane and directs Reyes to look for someone with a bullet wound. What Reyes and the agency soon realize is that there's a bounty on Ghost, and the plane is full of killers also looking for this target. The plane is barely off the ground before Reyes has a run in with a bounty hunter. It's a simple premise. A bunch of assassins are on a plane, all looking for the same person. It's fun.
Reyes manages to coerce a couple of flight attendants to help him find Ghost, despite the fact they know he killed someone. He even manages to find Ghost, convincing the hacker that he's there to help and they must team up. Reyes runs the gauntlet. Every killer has to go through him. Fight sequences are fun and energetic, often comedic.

Reyes and Ghost continue to defend themselves on the plane, but Ghost does have a few allies. Soon Reyes has a hit placed on him. I wondered how this would kick it up a notch to keep it interesting. Reyes on a drug trip is certainly unexpected. Then the movie throws a chainsaw into the mix.
Towards the end, Reyes rejects his deal and decides to team up with Ghost. This isn't great cinema, but it is a lot of fun. It his the right tone of violence and whimsy.
