Eight strangers awaken with no memory, in a puzzling cube-shaped room where the laws of physics do not always apply.

Verdict
This takes the idea of the first movie and ponders what if that affected time. What we get is a mess, this attempts to do nearly everything the first one does and does it worse. There's less of everything compared to the first, other than CGI. There's a fair amount of middling CGI in this. Other than a couple of good ideas for rooms that aren't really developed, this offers nothing.
Skip it.

Review
I've read this movie is bad, but every time I see the title I pause. I like Cube, and having recently rewatched it, I've finally decided to experience Hypercube. It was a disappointing experience.

This starts much like the first movie, just a bit more tame, which is disappointing. There's a hint that physics will be different in this prison, but this movie could have given us more. It feels like an even lower budget than the first movie. Half way in there weren't any interesting rooms. At the half way mark there is finally a room that is almost interesting, but it's too little too late.

It's easy to compare this to the first movie as they have basically the same plot. This pales in comparison across the board. While some of the rooms in the second half are interesting it's not enough to carry the scene, let alone the movie. The script seems almost incomplete, just a collection of scenes that someone planned to tie together and improve later. The acting wasn't great in the first one and it's even worse here.

This movie gives you so little. I had avoided it for years, and I didn't miss a thing. The only thing this movie can boast is that it makes the original look like a much better movie.
