Plot
When their late police captain gets linked to drug cartels, wisecracking Miami cops Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett embark on a dangerous mission to clear his name.

Verdict
Obstacles can breed creativity and ingenuity. I don't think this movie faced any hurdles. It's so mindless it's dull. It's two hours of gunfire and explosions occasionally interrupted by the attempt at humor. The movie is not only pointless but bland. This series has been coasting on the first movie and is only getting worse.
Skip it.

Review
I don't know why I keep watching this franchise. Each sequel tries to capture the first movie to no avail. Even the second movie was a miss. Bad Boys for Life was the sequel we didn't need. I knew that going in, and yet I watched this one too. It's my own fault.

We get an amusing opening with Mike (Will Smith) and Marcus (Martin Lawrence) in a convenience store in a rush. Marcus just had to stop, and the store just happens to get held up. This might be the high point of the movie.

Will Smith, Martin Lawrence play Mike, Marcus

The plot hinges on the death of their captain in the last movie. I saw the movie and had forgotten Captain Howard died. We also learned in that movie Mike had a secret son. The problem is that the last movie was completely forgettable. This one is too.

Are these guys really cops? They don't act like cops, they don't follow rules. They face none of the typical restrictions or impediments, acting with impunity. They do whatever they want. The cartel wants to frame Captain Howard so that this movie has some semblance of a plot. Mike and Marcus must decipher clues for answers, but this is really just a big dumb action movie. It uses whatever excuse necessary to create the next action scene. This is so mindless, and the problem is that they don't face any real challenge. Everything is achieved easily. The criminal syndicate they're battling is convoluted just to obscure this paper thin plot. If these antagonists had done nothing they could have proceeded with business as usual. Instead they frame a cop for no real reason just to create a story for this movie and give Mike and Marcus something to do.

The drama is haphazardly manufactured. Marcus thinks he can't die which is used for humor. Mike's panic attacks are just for drama. Later in the movie Mike can't take a kill shot and eliminate the antagonist. Why? That would end this movie too quickly. There's no point to this. The action isn't interesting the the comedy isn't funny. It's a lot of pointless action, and sometimes they change locations. Also, why are there so many characters that don't matter? This movie hopes that we'll mindlessly watch another entry in this franchise. The joke is on me, because that's exactly what I did.
